Jomsom Muktinath

Jomsom is a great place to start trekking. The diverse landscape and culture found along this trekking route give marvelous insight into the way of life of Nepali people of various ethnic groups.

The highlight is a trek through the deepest gorge in the world carved by the Kali Gandaki River, which originates in the Tibetan plateau to eventually flow into the Ganges in India.

Not too far from Jomsom, you find Muktinath, the famous pilgrimage site for Buddhists as well as Hindus. To Hindus, Muktinath is a sacred place of salvation. They believe that bathing in the waters here guarantees salvation after death. The Hindu god, Brahma, is said to have lit the eternal flames that burn at Muktinath.

To Buddhists, Muktinath is a place where the great sage Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) who brought Buddhism to Tibet, came to meditate.

The area is a perfect place to find fossilized ammonites, known locally as Shaligram, which are found all along the upper reaches of the Kali Gandaki.

Sarangkot Hiking in Pokhara

Sarangkot and Naudanda are small communities located in the hills to the west of Pokhara. These hilltop villages are known for offering some of the finest views of the Annapurna Mountains, excellent hiking and if you’re game, paragliding opportunities.

Sarangkot hilltop can be seen from Pokhara, which is just 10km (6.2mi) away from the city. Many travellers will take transport through the suburbs to the base of the hill, before hiking to the top in around two hours.

From Sarangkot, it’s around 30km (18.6mi) to Naudanda. If you’re fit and used to hillwalking you could do the whole hike in one day, but most people choose to break it up with at least one overnight stay in a teahouse en-route. There are lots of accommodation options in both Sarangkot and Naudanda, where you can start and end the short trek with spectacular mountain views.

Everest Region in Nepal

Normally it takes 18 days on foot to Everest Base Camp using ground transfer. It goes through Himalaya, Bhandar, Kharikhola and get to Lukla. From Lukla it takes 10 to 12 days to complete this trek to and from.
But now a day, trekkers mostly use flight and begins from Lukla and Ends in Lukla. It has many trekking routes called as 3 highs passes trek, Gokyo Lake Trek, Everest View Trek, Thame village trek, Tengboche Trek and many more can be done.
This trek offers great Himalayan ranges which are more than 8000 meters high mountains called as Mt. Lhotse, Mount Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho Oyu and Gaurishanker, Pumori and Gokyo Peak these are almost 7100 meters to 7500 meters.

Chovar in Kathmandu Valley

It is situated nine kilometers southwest of Kathmandu. This place is famous of its gorge. All the waters of the Valley drain though it. Legends says that the god Manjushree cut the gorge to drain out Kathmandu Valley which was then a lake. There is a small but pictusque temple of Adinath on the top of a hill. From this point, one has a complete view of snow-capped mountain peaks. Just beyond the Chobhar Gorge. There is the 17th-century temple of Jal Vinayak. The main image of the temple is on a massive rock. Only a small part in front vaguely resembles an elephant’s head. The image at Jal Vinayak is different from other images of Lord Ganesh.

Shrine of Shekha Narayan is situated between Chobhar and Dakshinkali which represents one of the four Narayans of the Kathmandu Valley. The shrine stands on a hillock beneath a stalactite rock. At the base of Shekha Narayan is a pond with several verities of fish.
