Everest Base Camp Trek in the world

Have you ever dreamt of trekking through the World’s highest peaks in the magnificent Himalayas in Nepal, with looming giants like Everest, Lhotse and  Ama Dablam towering over head?  Do you want to take on a challenge, try something different, or push your body both physically and mentally to reach new heights?  Well, here is your chance.

The two week journey in to the incredible Everest Region of the Himalaya’s will start in the bustling capital city of Kathmandu, Nepal.

The flight to Lukla is a 45 minute ride through the mountains on a small twin-otter plane to the Tenzing-Hillary Airport, situated at 2,850 meters above sea level.  From here, you will begin the trek into the SolouKhumbu Region, following the Dudh Kosi River along the beautiful, lush trail to Namche Bazaar.  Namche Bazaar is the Sherpa capital of Nepal, located at 3,440 meters and is a beloved stop by many of Nepal’s trekkers.

From Namche Bazaar you will continue up the trail, through valleys with massive Himalayan peaks all around, passing Villages where you will meet the welcoming local Sherpa people.  Among those villages is the village of Tengboche, located at 3,867 meters, which holds the important Buddhist monastery, the Tengboche Monastery.  The Monastery was originally built in 1916 and was destroyed twice, once by an earthquake and once by a fire, and the current structure was rebuilt in 1989 and has since been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  This beautiful Monastery and town are draped with a panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountains, including the well-known peaks of Tawache, Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Thamserku.

From Tengboche, you begin to see the effects of the lack of oxygen on the environment.  The green lush valleys turn into a black and white world with dusty trails and stunning snowy peaks surrounding you.  You pass through Dingboche, sitting at 4,410m, which is where we take another chance to spend extra time acclimatizing to the lower levels of oxygen. From here the journey takes you up to the steep Dugla Pass to Lobuche.  This section of the trek can be strenuous, but your efforts are rewarded with spectacular views over the Himalayas.  From the top of the Dugla Pass begins the

Khumbu Glacier, which continues all the way to Everest Base Camp and on up high on Mount Everest.  We will continue to Lobuche 4,920m and on to Gorak Shep at 5,180m, which is the final acclimatization stop on our way to Everest Base Camp.  From Gorak Shep you will only have a short walk into Base Camp and get the chance to stand at the base of the infamous Khumbu Icefall, which claims many lives every year when people are attempting to summit the world’s highest peak.  We will also have a chance to summit Kala Patthar 5,632m to get the classic view of Mount Everest in all her glory!

Our spectacular trek to Everest base camp takes nine days on the way up and three days back down to Lukla with 3 nights spent in Namche Bazaar on the way up and 1 night on the way back down to have a celebration drink in one of the pubs.  You can trek from February to May and September to December. We prefer March and November. The walk through the Himalayas is a stunning journey from start to finish and allows you to not only be able to see the incredible scenery of the highest mountains in the world, but you are also given the opportunity to meet the local Sherpa people and see the way they live.
